ID Energy Group and Feníe Energía lay the cornerstone of the first photovoltaic farm they will build together

Located in the provinces of Albacete and Ciudad Real, the power station is expected to begin operating between this year and early 2023.

ID Energy Group, a company specialising in photovoltaic power, is responsible for building the facilities and will also be responsible for maintaining them after they are commissioned.

With this operation, the power and gas seller Feníe Energía is adding 12 MW to the 20 MW it already generates at its Ourol and Sorihuela wind farms.

Madrid, 15 september 2022 – Feníe Energía and ID Energy Group continue their mission to promote renewable power generation. Within this framework, the two companies participated in the symbolic act of setting the cornerstone of a photovoltaic power plant in Villarrubia de los Ojos (Ciudad Real).

This is one of the 11 solar farms being built in various parts of the provinces of Ciudad Real and Albacete. The facilities are in different building stages and they are slated for commissioning between the last few months of this year and early 2023.

These projects demonstrate a joint commitment to rural development and sustainability. During his presentation at the event, José Manuel Caballero chairman of the Ciudad Real Council, emphasised the importance of promoting initiatives like this one: ‘This photovoltaic power station model notably spills over in the territory and will yield many benefits. This business model that helps create jobs in the area and invests in innovation and development should be reproduced. Licenses and permits should be issued based on these project’s commitments to the territory’.

Caballero highlighted ID Energy Group’s strength in the sector and Feníe Energía’s commitment to rural areas through its network of over 2400 energy agents providing service in all territories of Spain.

Miguel Ángel Famoso, the mayor of Villarrubia de los Ojos, also attended the cornerstone laying ceremony and said, ‘These projects are important both in terms of the circular economy and in terms of the local community’. He added that, ‘Spain is the sunshine country and we need to leverage that energy to everyone’s benefit’.

Castile-La Mancha in particular is one of the Autonomous Communities where the most photovoltaic power is produced, alongside Extremadura and Andalusia. Manuel Guirao, director general of the Energy Transition for the government of Castile-La Mancha said, “the capacity installed in this region in 2022 is more than 1100 MW, equivalent to the total capacity installed in Andalusia, Extremadura, Aragón, and Castile and León. Practically 50% of what has been installed has been installed in our Community”. Guirao also explained the two fundamental premises of these projects: “On the one hand, controlling the environmental impact and, on the other, social acceptance among the people living near the facilities. Both are perfectly fulfilled at this facility”.
